 I think the idea of Jesus is much better than the carrying out of his message by his followers. Believe in Jesus or not, the idea of Jesus is powerful. The message has been garbled by so many telling us what that message is. And it�s been exploited by those eager to make a buck. And so we have a holiday today that is more a celebration of commercialism than of the birth of the Christian savior.
I stopped �celebrating� Christmas about five years ago after my Grandmother died. There wasn�t any more reason to celebrate. Today I enjoy the pagan aspects of Christmas, like the gift giving, the tree, and the celebration of Winter. The religious stuff I leave to the believers and the hypocrites. |
